Road accidents in India

NDTV had some interesting statistics about road accidents in India.
Number of deaths due to road accidents.

2004 - 92,618
2005 - 94,968
2007 - 90,000+

These are true statistics from Indian Govt according to NDTV.

If its 90K/year then it is

90,000/(365*24) = 10persons/hour

It means 1 person dies every 6minutes on Indian roads.

This is a big shame. Its high time since we had tougher laws and better roads.

The big reason behind all the road-rage incidents in India(like a biker beat a pedestrian to death) are BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD Roads and poor traffic management.

Iam planning to post a series of photos/videos about some one of the worst planning done in Bangalore and how it has aggravated traffic chaos.

You are right about bad traffic management in bangalore.. Misplaced pedestrian crossings, non-exixting pedestrian pathways in some roads are a few examples..
