yahoo search - Inquisitor

I thought of blo(ra)gging about stuff i like in yahoo search. I admit that, i was an ardent google user for a long-long-long time, even after joining yahoo's search technology. But three recent innovations(1 acquired) at yahoo made me a big fan of yahoo search. I'll discuss them one-by-one. Nowadays am using yahoo search via inquisitor and am not a wee bit disappointed, the results are as accurate as google. Search is all about GIGO, so am sure yahoo will have plans to prune that and as am working in yahoo i can guarantee that there will be many more innovations coming out of yahoo web search in the near future.

The Inquisitor plugin:

Everytime i use inquisitor i curse myself saying "God why dint i get this idea, it so simple and wellmade". Inquisitor is a plugin available for FF, safari, and ie. I have been using the safari plugin in mac and am pretty impressed. Install this and see the wonders it can do to to your search toolbar on the right-corner of the browser. Inquistor changes ur default search engine to yahoo( u can snap back to google, i'll not explain how). When you type ur quey, a summary of all top results appear in the box, u can read the gist and click the best. The tool has an inbuilt learning algorithm and many more features that can make ur search experience with yahoo better, the more u use it the better it becomes.

How i was dumbstruck by inquisitor

Recently, a southafrican woman singer died during a concert in Italy, so i gave the search term in toolbar as "southafrican woman singer dead", bingo the first result was accurate. Google also gives you the same result, but this is much better, i like it this way, i can skim thru the contents and then decide on the page to visit.

Next i forgot the name "Russell peters", all i knew was that he is an "indian canadian comedian"..Bingo..

The next snap is about a technical query, "cd" is an internal command, so u cannot do "sudo cd" in some versions.
