Pepper spray for self defense

I get incensed with rage and anger, whenever i read news articles about attack on women, in the name of moral policing. A woman has all the right in the world to talk to whoever she wants, dress, drink, smoke whatever she wants as long as it is legal in the country she resides. I really wonder what rights these bastards who are dressed in shirt, jeans(which are not Indian) have to harass woman in the name of Indian culture. We never had these in our culture, all we had was sati, untouchability, child marriage and merciless dumping widows in the banks of Varanasi. Whenever i read about such attacks, i feel like beating up somebody, loose my interest to work and fight with almost everyone from my friends to co-workers..I know that its bad..am working hard to get this rage out of my system, i should channel it in a better way.

Very recently this article The Hindu: attack on women in bangalorefilled me up with anger and a sense of helplessness, and i really thought all girls in this city should be carrying some form of self-defense material. Tazers are not available here, so I made some enquiries about pepper spray and got the contact numbers of few stores selling the same. We travelled there beating all the traffic and bought two of them, for 2 very close friends of mine. Am not saying that its a god product, but its good to carry one, its a 55ml can of chilli extract that is 20 times stronger than the ones we use in kitchen, its highly compressed and when sprayed it spreads out and forms a cloud. I sprayed few drops of it on my palm(which is rough) and i could sense the irritation for few minutes, am sure if its ever sprayed on eyes/lips or other soft tissues the victim will run screaming. Do not ask me if i tasted the extract, but all i can tell u is that it was really really hot.

Now for the price, its little over priced at 499Rs, but i think there should be no compromise when it comes to matters of personal safety. The spray is available at Health and Glow in MG Road.
